The Victorian Ash is the tallest tree found in Australia and can grow to 400 feet tall! The average height of a Victorian Ash is 270 feet and average trunk diameter is 4 feet. The tree is covered by smooth, gray bark. The flowers are produced in clusters and the fruits appear in capsule forms. The sapwood and heartwood of the Victorian Ash are pale, pink-brown or pale straw.

Victorian Ash is a straw to tan colored wood, which has color variation from the pale straw color to pinkish highlights and some medium gray-brown colors. The wood is close grained and even in texture. Victorian Ash is relatively easy to work either by hand or with machine tools. The wood bends well and glues satisfactorily. Also, Victorian Ash accepts all types of stains, paints and finishes. The wood experiences a slight color change over time, losing some of its variation and different color tones to a uniform appearance.
