Flooring Properties

Timborana is a beautiful specie quite similar to teak. The wood has fine graining which can make sanding difficult. Sawing can be very difficult because of its hardness. Pre-boring is suggested for nailing because of the same trait. Glue is a more acceptable option, as it is more readily applied. When fresh cut, Timborana is a light, tan-yellow color which darkens to a tan-brown color. Then, over time, reddish tones develop. This process occurs more quickly in direct sunlight, but with oxidation alone, can occur over a period of 6 to 8 months.

Janka Rating

Timborana has a hardness rating of 1570.
