Ceramic Tiles:

  • Is the original known flooring material. A mixture of clays and other materials from the earth are collected. The numerous different clays are grinned down to powder and compressed together to construct the body of the tile. After the clay body is dried the next stage removes the moisture from the clay. When it comes to making the tile glazed a mixture with a color is applied to one side. The glaze coating is sealed to the ceramic by putting it inside of a 2000 degree oven, producing the final product making it hard and durable with a wonderful finish.

Porcelain Tile:

  • Is very similar to ceramic tile but the differences are massive. Created under excessively high pressure it is then fired at higher temperatures than the ceramic tile is fired at. Because of the higher temperature the effect is stronger and more durable tile.Through-body porcelain tiles means that the color on the top of the tile is continued through out the tile. Superior porcelain tile is considerably resistant to abrasions, markings and fading.

Glazed Tiles:

  • Glaze is a coating that is applied to the surface before going into a high pressure oven that is glass derivative. This coating is available in finishes from matte or a dull finish to high gloss. When the shine on the tiles are higher its usually less of a grip. Less glossy surfaces are known to make marks less visible.

Unglazed Tiles:

  • These tiles are more durable than glazed, making them more suitable for high traffic areas. The only disadvantage to unglazed tiles is they are much more textured than glaze making cleaning more difficult.
