Flooring Properties
Shedua-Mutenye is a beautiful wood with tan-brown background with fine black striping. Though hard and heavy, this wood works well with hand and machine tools, particularly in picking of interlocked grain while planing. This hardwood species is noted for containing silica which may cause rapid dulling of cutters. This wood also may contain gum pockets. The hardwood has moderately fine and even texture and a straight grain that is also interlocked. Shedua-Mutenye will darken over time from a golden brown to a darker brown under the black striping.
Janka rating
Shedua-Mutenye has a hardness rating of 1650.
