What is rubber flooring?
Rubber flooring can be interlocking tiles or simple pieces. It is used for playground surfaces, gym floors and in restaurants where workers can stand and be safe (plus it's easier on the feet!). Also, rubber mats or flooring can be washed or hosed down easily, then dried quickly, so in food areas is where this durable flooring really comes in handy. Rubber flooring is also great for garages and dance floors. Not for tap dancing, though.
How thick does rubber flooring get?
A wide range of thicknesses is available, as is formats and colors, and recycled product is out there for those of us who want to use eco-friendly floor coverings. This type of flooring can also be used at trade shows and in exhibits. It helps customers and staff alike feel a little less foot weary. Rubber flooring can also be useful in home kitchens as well as commercial ones, in the basement and in locker rooms. It's a great athletic surface for schools and provides cushioning for physical sports like wrestling. Tiles and rolls are easy to install. Rubber flooring is so handy that it can be laid down for tents and marquees and it makes a great portable dance floor, as well as a permanent one.

The healthcare industry uses rubber flooring of many kinds because it can be kept clean easier than a lot of other floor coverings. Ice rinks and warehouses often use rubber flooring. Rubber tiles can be used on a patio. A rubber mat makes a great welcome mat at the front door of your house and it's great for cold or wet climates. These types are also available in many different designs and with cutout scrollwork and even photo-realistic mats. The latter is an actual photo representation of a colorful garden or landscape design. There are several kinds and types of rubber and even rubber flooring with a mesh-like design that lets water or other liquids drain through, and therefore provides secure flooring for workers, and a surface that they will be safe on.
Can you make stair treads with rubber flooring?
Stair treads can be made from rubber flooring and they work great for cushioning and safety in a warehouse situation, because on metal they cling as well as provide comfort to the person going up and down the stairs. Rubber pavers are wonderful for a garden path as they are weatherproof and provide a secure footing if it's raining or snowing. Rubber is such an incredibly versatile substance that it can be formed into a multitude of types of flooring and other products, with virtually any texture to the surface and in any color. Using rubber flooring is cost effective as it is durable and it doesn't kill the trees it comes from -- just like maple syrup harvesting.
