Flooring Properties
Peruvian Walnut flooring, also known as Nogal, shares great resemblance with American Walnut. Its color is dark brown with black striping, and is more uniform throughout than American Walnut. Its colors are heightening by its lustrous sheen. The grain is straight to wavy and the texture is rather coarse. This wood works easily with both hand and machine tools. It takes nails and screws well and holds joints perfectly. It sands well and finishes nicely, and also has excellent gluing qualities. With aging, the wood’s colors will darken somewhat.
Janka rating
Peruvian Walnut has a hardness rating of 1080.
