There are 1500 species of Bamboo. They are native to China, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and various countries throughout the African continent. Some species are even grown here from Maryland west to Missouri and south to Florida and Texas.
Physical appearance
Bamboo Species vary in height, from 40-100 feet, and in diameter, typically 3-7 inches. Bamboo trees have simple, shiny, thin, stiff, smooth and dark green leaves.
Flooring Properties
For centuries Bamboo has been largely cultivated, but only recently has it been used as flooring. Today, Bamboo's strength, natural beauty and ability to sustain a population through harvesting make it an attractive and practical alternative to exotic hardwood flooring. The species has a very linear grain and is fairly smooth in texture. The Natural Bamboo hardwood flooring comes with a very bright color, somewhat creamy yellowish white, very similar to the maple natural color.
